Every attempt is made to match the tone of the original although old papers and processes can be very different that today's technology. For fine art reproductions, the ultra high 2880dpi resolution Giclee prints are made uing speciality papers with colortones balanced for particular lighting conditions. Upon request prints can be coated with UV protective varnish as added protection from exposure and outside elements.
At the present time the favorite papers for high quality and giclee printing are Sunset Airdried Heavy Weight Fiber Papers made by LexJet, a wonderful company that specializes in high quality photo printing supplies. Because of color reproduction qualities and longevity Sunset Airdried papers are perfect for high quality reproduction of restored photographs. Matte surface particularly well suited for reproduction of documents originally printed or written on parchment, velum or rag papers.
